AMETEK POWER TRANSDUCER CHOSEN BY NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK

Aug 31, 2009

ROCHESTER, NY, U.S.A.— AMETEK Power Instruments—a recognized leader in power measurement products— was selected by National Instruments (NI) as a wireless sensor solution collaborator for power measurements. AMETEK power transducers used by National Instruments measure single or three phase currents and voltages so that data can be transmitted wirelessly to a central computer, where it can be analyzed and recorded.

The AMETEK Power Transducers are connected to the National Instruments Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) platform, which provides low-power, wireless data transfer to NI LabVIEW data acquisition software. Wireless power measurements make it possible to monitor the power consumption of a given application without requiring extensive wiring systems. This provides an inexpensive solution for energy management and power monitoring of existing systems that don’t have the wiring in place.

AMETEK has a full line of Rochester and Scientific Columbus brand power transducers that can measure volts, amps, watts, VARS, frequency, power factor and energy with different accuracy levels and output options to suit any application.

AMETEK Power Instruments has long been recognized as the power and process industry leader with the industry’s most comprehensive line of power measurement, alarm management, transient recording, and utility hardened communication products. For more information, contact AMETEK Power Instruments, 255 North Union Street, Rochester New York 14605 Web site: http://www.ametekpower.com

AMETEK Power Instruments is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with 2008 sales of more than $2.5 billion.
