Q. Can I add or change options in the JEMSTAR meter?
A. Standard communications, and pulse output (DI/DO), options are field installable. JEMSTAR analog output options are not field installable, the units must be returned to the factory for the addition of an analog output option. Several options, once purchased, may be user enabled in the meter via a special code and communications tool. Please contact the factory or your local rep for more information on JEMSTAR options.
Q. How do you program the JEMSTAR meter?
A. The JEMWARE program was developed to program the JEMSTAR meter, and provide some basic communications tools for the JEMSTAR user. JEMWARE is not intended to be used as a JEMSTAR data retrieval program. JEMWARE is Win, 95, Win98, and Win2000 compatible. A free copy of JEMWARE on CD is provided with every JEMSTAR ordered. JEMSTAR users will find JEMWARE easy and intuitive to use.
Q. What types of software communications packages are available for the JEMSTAR?
A. The JEMSTAR supports a binary communications protocol developed by AMETEK for the JEMSTAR meter. This is the standard communications protocol the meter is sold with. The JEMREAD program, only available through AMETEK, is designed to retrieve register and load profile data from the JEMSTAR meter , as well as AMETEK's JEM 1(EXJ register only), JEM 2, and JEM 10 meter families. JEMRead is Win 95, Win98, and Win2000 compatible. JEMRead is designed to retrieve data from a single, or group of meters, and export the data to ".CSV" file format, easily recognized by most spreadsheet applications. Utility Translation Services/Itron has also developed a program for retrieving data from the JEMSTAR meter. Please contact UTS/Itron directly for more information.
The JEMSTAR also supports 3 optional communications protocols, MODBUS, DNP 3.0, and ASCII Tables. Each of these protocols was developed and/or is administered by groups not affiliated with AMETEK.
