Q. What is the ratio of my current clamps?
A. The ACE products use current inputs of 3V full scale. The output of compatible volt out clamps ranges 1 to 3V, with 3 being the most common. The ratio is expressed as the primary side of the clamp over the volt out. ie: a 1000A clamp with a 2V output has a ratio of 1000:2, or 500.
Q. Does the instrument use calibrated clamps?
A. No, the clamps are used as is with the Quatro and the theoretical ratio is entered as above.
Q. How do I enter my ratio if the clamp provided with the instrument is measuring the secondary of a primary CT?
A. The ratios of the 2 devices are multiplied and entered as x:1. ie: a clamp with the instrument that measures up to 5A with a 2V output connected to a 2000 to 5A primary CT. 5/2 x 2000/5 = 1000. In the survey setup the overall ratio is entered as 1000:1
Q. Why does the LED on top of the IR interface box come on during communication?
A. This LED comes on when the internal 9V alkaline battery is low. Change the battery.
Q. Any attempt to communicate with the Quatro results in an error for the PC port when I am using my laptop. What can I do?
A. First if possible load the PowerACE software on a regular PC and see if you can communicate there. If so it is common in laptops to have a program not fully releasing the serial port. An example of this might be the software for a palm pilot or such. Disable any software of this type and try again.
